Text and music by Rick McVioar

Beauty battles melancholy,

A battle of mountainous proportions.

Sad songs join in the fight.

Angry songs stand nearby.

Bold blues and reds splash on the walls,

Yellow and greens stream in between.

Circular patterns surround a black square.

Charcoal smoke fills the air.

A poetic prayer is softly spoken.

The touch of darkness persists.

"Communion After Dark" plays on YouTube

Begging me to leave behind depression.

Hopeful signs can be found.

I imagine bread and a cup of wine.

I begin to feel more cheerful.

Nevertheless, I feel a tear.

The fight is not done,

But I believe it will be won

By a light shining ever so bright.

A man's hand playing the piano.
